How to Slow Down the Aging of TPE Materials?

TPE materials are increasingly used in various applications due to their advantages of ease of processing, weather resistance, soft texture, and ease of coloring. However, products made from TPE inevitably exhibit signs of aging over time. How can the aging of TPE materials be slowed down? Below, the TPE experts at Shenzhen Zhongsu Wang will provide an introduction to this issue.

To address the various causes of TPE aging, the following measures can be taken for effective protection:

A. Control processing conditions

Avoid excessive temperatures and prolonged processing times during manufacturing to minimize thermal degradation of the material during processing.

B. Add anti-aging additives

Incorporate antioxidants and UV absorbers (such as UV-327, UV-531), and light stabilizers in the formulation can significantly enhance TPE's weather resistance and thermal-oxidative aging resistance.

C. Select base materials with superior aging resistance

For example, replacing conventional SBS with hydrogenated TPE (such as SEBS, TPV, or TPEE) can significantly improve the material's aging resistance.

D. Optimize product design and usage environment

Avoid exposing TPE products to prolonged direct sunlight, high temperatures, or chemical media. For products intended for outdoor use, consider applying a surface coating or protective layer.

The above information on how to delay the aging of TPE materials is shared here. We hope this article is helpful to you. If you have any other questions about TPE materials, please follow Zhongsu Wang Enterprise or leave a message for the editor. We look forward to discussing this topic with you!
